- More than half of emergency department (ED) visits for prescription drug abuse involved multiple drugs.
- In a study from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health from 2006-2008, of more than 55,000 young men and women aged 18 to 25, around 12% stated they had abused prescription opioid drugs. In this group, 34% used marijuana, 56% smoked cigarettes and 57% used alcohol.
