Many addicted individuals in Idaho Falls who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in Idaho Falls also take part in substance abuse at some time in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to drugs or alcohol to self medicate as a way to alleviate the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric disorder. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a disorder, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug rehabilitation center is this sort of issue brought to light. This alone can sometimes help resolve addiction issues and put the person in a position to get rehabilitation for both conditions so that they have a good chance of remaining abstinent and mentally healthy in the future.
