Inpatient hospitalization programs in Peru are a form of drug rehabilitation program which provides treatment in a hospital setting where the rehabilitation process can be managed by medical staff and treatment professionals. As is generally the case with benzodiazepine and alcohol withdrawal, it is sometimes necessary for an individual to be in an inpatient hospitalization program during the withdrawal process because some withdrawal symptoms can be life threatening. Inpatient hospitalization programs are also an option for those in Peru who wish to undergo medication assisted withdrawal, which is mainly used in the case of illicit opiate or prescription pain reliever addiction. Most individuals in Peru who choose this treatment method however and don't continue on with further drug rehab have very high rates of relapse. In either case, addicted individuals should follow up detox with an in depth rehabilitation program either in inpatient hospitalization or in some other drug rehab center.
