Many people in South Shore who find their way to drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who struggle with mental health issues in South Shore, Kentucky also become involved in substance abuse at some point in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate as a way to relieve the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric disorder.
