Many people in Tennessee who end up in drug rehab are dual diagnosis clients with co-occurring mental and substance abuse problems. Surprisingly, as many as 1/3 of those who suffer with mental health issues in Tennessee, Illinois also become involved in substance abuse at some time in their lives. These dual diagnosis clients frequently turn to alcohol or drugs to self medicate in an attempt to relieve the symptoms of an underlying psychiatric disorder. Some treatment clients aren't even diagnosed with a disorder, and only when they begin to receive treatment at a drug rehabilitation center is this sort of psychological condition discovered. This in itself can sometimes help resolve addiction issues and put the individual in a position to get treatment for both conditions so that they have a good chance of remaining abstinent and psychologically stable in the future.
